ALCOHOL AND DRUG DETOX OR WITHDRAWAL
Being addicted to any substance whether it is alcohol,
a street drug or pharmaceutical medication is a serious
condition that can be fatal if not properly treated. Thinking
about entering an alcohol and drug detox center can be
frightening. Given the severity of some drug and alcohol
withdrawal symptoms, most people are not able to tolerate
the withdrawal symptoms on their own. There is hope!
Our drug and alcohol detox center is designed to make
you as safe and comfortable as possible throughout the
entire process. In some cases medication will be given
during the alcohol or drug detox period.
The acute withdrawal stage of the detox
period normally lasts five to seven days. Withdrawal symptoms
vary depending on the substance being abused. Some classic
withdrawal symptoms are insomnia, fatigue, chills, anxiety,
nausea and vomiting, diarrhea and abdominal pains. In some
cases these symptoms can be as severe as hallucinations,
seizures and drug induced psychosis.
